Notes from Jeri

LA County and California resources

These are resources that Jeri personally checked out.

Please advise us if you experience any issues, thank you.

Jeri researched 4 possibilities for mental health counseling in LA County – possibly free and without having to wait very long.  To the best of her ability, she screened these numbers to be sure they will be appropriate to try, but you have to personally make the calls to see if you qualify for help or to make appointments.

DIDI HIRSCH (specialize in suicide prevention, intervention and postvention.)

There is a charge for their counseling in LA Co, BUT, this special number may be able to find you a free or low cost alternative (424) 362-2911   Be sure to say you are the survivor of a loved one’s suicide, and do not have money to pay for counseling.

NAMI WARMLINE LA COUNTY

(310) 889-7200   24/7 support

for all kinds of mental health issues affecting you or a loved one.

DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH

California (800) 854-7771 X 2 “emotional support line”

211 - 211 is the statewide “self-help” hotline.

You will automatically be directed to self-help resources in your area - Just dial 211

- Most importantly –

If you are feeling suicidal, dial “988” 24/7 and you will be routed

to the suicide prevention line in your area.

Another note from Jeri

In addition to those resources listed above, our SOS group

maintains a brief list of therapists.

I would be glad to help you find a counselor

in your area who has had some experience

in helping families through

the loss of a loved one by suicide.
